Biomedicum, an ultramodern laboratory building for experimental biomedical research, was designed by the Danish architectural firm, C.F. Møller and built by Skanska for the client, Karolinska Institutet. The project was awarded ’Building of the Year’ out of 20 nominated projects by the magazines Byggindustrin and Business Arena.

For the design of Biomedicum, Greenworks contributed with a total of 600 square meters of living walls, consisting of 28 individual walls spreading over 9 floors. To facilitate visitor orientation in the building, each individual living wall comprises a unique botanical composition and thus an individual visual expression.

Greenworks are also behind other green walls in healthcare institutions, most recently for Sollentuna Hospital in the spring of 2019. The next one will be in the spring of 2020, when another large living wall can be found at Örebro Hospital.
